Head-to-head
Water filter comparisons, side by side
Each comparison puts two filters in the same columns — install class, filter type, stated certification claims and what the Amazon listing actually says — so the differences are visible without opening both product pages.

How to read a water filter comparison
Two filters rarely differ in a single number. They differ in where they install, what they are certified to reduce, how often the cartridge is replaced and what the seller actually publishes. A comparison is useful only when those columns are filled from the same sources for both products, which is what these pages do: every figure is either copied from the live listing or marked as not stated.
Start with the contaminant, not the brand. If a current lab report names lead, PFAS, arsenic or nitrate, the deciding column is the certification for that contaminant — a filter that is excellent for taste and chlorine is not automatically a health-contaminant filter. If the concern is aesthetic (chlorine taste, hardness, sediment), install class and cartridge cost matter more than a long certification list.
Next, match the install class to your home. Pitchers and faucet mounts need no plumbing and move with you; under-sink systems treat more water per cartridge but need a feed line and usually a drilled hole; whole-house systems sit at the point of entry and protect plumbing, but they do not replace a dedicated reduction step for dissolved contaminants. A comparison that ignores install class can make a cheap pitcher look equivalent to a plumbed system when the two solve different problems.
Then compare the cost of ownership, not the sticker price. Cartridge life, replacement interval and annual cost are frequently missing from listings, and an absent number is information: it means the seller has not published it, not that the filter is cheap to own. Where a comparison shows a blank, treat it as unverified rather than zero.
Finally, read the certification claim carefully. “Tested to NSF/ANSI 42” and “NSF/ANSI 53 certified” are not the same statement, and a manufacturer claim is not a certification record. We mark claims-only rows as claims-only, and we do not invent removal percentages to fill a table. For any health-related decision, confirm the current claim text and the certification listing before checkout, and treat these comparisons as a shopping aid rather than a lab report.
