Seasonal Maintenance Checklist

Cold weather, travel, and humidity each stress a filter system differently. A short per-season checklist keeps it performing and honest.

Before winter / cold snaps

Protect outdoor or garage-mounted systems from freeze. Ice can crack housings and void a filter’s expected service life.

If a line may freeze, drain it and the system per the maker’s cold-weather guidance.

After travel or long absence

Flush the system for a few minutes before drinking. Stagnant water can carry taste, sediment or even biofilm regardless of the filter’s rating.

Spring / high-turbidity seasons

Spring melt and heavy rain can raise sediment and turbidity. If you run a pre-filter, replace it sooner when the source quality shifts.

Summer

Higher chlorine demand in some towns can shorten carbon life. Keep an eye on flow rather than taste alone.

FAQ

Quick answers

+What if I cannot reach the system over the season?

Schedule the next maintenance at the first re-entry. A stale filter is not necessarily unsafe, but a flush and a check is a clean restart.
